about our club

Founded in 1990, the Bison Wrestling Club has developed young athletes by teaching them sportsmanship, physical conditioning, endurance and the techniques of the oldest sport in the world, wrestling. We work with both the Buffalo Grove and Wheeling Park District to offer our program.
Our program emphasizes extensive physical warm up and conditioning. The coaches teach different moves and techniques through demonstration and practice.
Our practices are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Wheeling or Buffalo Grove High Schools in Illinois. Schedule times & locations are listed in the Schedules portion of our web site.
We compete at tournaments from December through March at various schools across the area. These matches are also based on same weight, age, and level of experience whenever possible.
Tournament competition isn't mandatory, so there's no social pressure inhibiting inexperienced young athletes from learning & working out with us. Our club had 52 wrestlers last year. For those of you who are ready for some healthy competition, we have had 49 state place winners, four state champions and a national champion. Our team finished second in the overall state tournament last year. Our members come from Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove and fourteen other northwest Illinois suburbs.
Come and join us for a trial practice or contact us if you have any questions.
